Platform improvements and new and extended model libraries

We are pleased to announce the release of gPROMS ProcessBuilder® 1.3.0, which can now be downloaded from the customer area [login required].

ProcessBuilder 1.3.0 benefits from new features in the gPROMS® platform as well as from new and upgraded model libraries. A summary is provided below, with more details available in the release notes within the software.

gPROMS ProcessBuilder 1.3 Update

The new and upgraded model libraries are listed below:

  • gML Process – models of standard process units
  • gML Oilfield – modelling and optimization of upstream oil and gas assets.
  • gML Power – modelling of power plants
  • gML Water – modelling of waste-water treatment plants.
  • gML Olefins – modelling of steam cracking furnaces for olefins production.

gML Process updates

Key features of the gML Process includes new models and updates to the scheduling model as well as a more robust 3-phase separator model that handles phase appearance and disappearance. New models include:

  • Shortcut distillation column 
  • Heat transfer interface
  • Reactor yield
  • Adsorption isotherm

gML Oilfield

Key features of the gML Oilfield update include:

  • two-phase calculations in pipelines
  • integrated asset modelling
  • efficient black oil correlations for production networks
  • detailed compositional modelling for facilities (e.g. gas compression)
  • efficient formulation of discrete decisions & logical constraints.

gML Power

gML Power applications include evaluating power plant designs, obtaining dynamic responses to load changes, combining heat and power, and integrating with carbon capture & sequestration. Features include:

  • Conventional and oxyfueled boilers modelled via performance curves
  • Dynamic feedwater heaters, condensers, and the heat recovery steam generator
  • Flue gas treatment technologies including selective catalytic reduction, flue gas desulphurisation, and the electrostatic precipitator

gML Water updates

New gML Water models representing new unit operations make it possible to tackle more types of wastewater process. New models include:

  • Equalization tank
  • Anaerobic digesters
  • Sludge dewatering / drying
  • Ultrafiltration membrane separation
  • Risk Assessment model (bulking / foaming)
  • Plant-wide biological model
